SU Men Take First Place at Bubble Buster

The Syracuse cross country team competed at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster this afternoon and for the third-straight meet, the No. 13 men's team took first place. The men claimed nine of the top-10 finishers. The No. 22 women ran to a fifth place finish in a race that included three other ranked teams (No. 18 Toledo, No. 23 San Francisco and No. 25 West Virginia).
The top finisher on the men side for the Orange was freshman Marin Hehir who ran to a second place finish with a time of 19:01. Eight SU harriers followed directly behind him: 3rd – junior Joseph Whelan (19:11), 4th – sophomore Max Straneva (19:12), 5th – sophomore Andrew Palmer (19:12), 6th – sophomore Ryan Urie (19:21), 7th – junior Robert Molke (19:23), 8th – sophomore Reed Kamyszek (19:24), 9th – senior Griff Graves (19:25) and 10th – sophomore Jon Squeri (19:26).
Freshman Dan Lennon finished in 14th (19:39) while fellow freshman Joe Kush came in 16th (19:42). Behind Kush was freshman Andrew Bennison in 17th place (19:48) and freshman Juris Silenieks (19:54). Senior Jon Aziz posted a time of 20:04 which was good for 26th place. David Wilson finished in 31st with a time of 20:18 with senior Zach Rivers behind him in 34th with a time of 20:23.
Senior Sarah Pagano led the Orange women for the second straight meet, running to a second place finish with a time of 13:19 in the women's 4k race. Sophomore Jessie Petersen finished in 15th with a time of 13:39. Freshman Brianna Nerud ran to a 19th finish (13:43) and junior Alexandra Clinton finished in 26th (13:52).
Junior Kimberly Spana finished in 42nd (14:01) with junior Erin Cawley right behind her at 14:01.6. Freshman Angelica Peck notched a time of 14:02 and finished in 47th. Sophomore Katie Fleischer recorded a time of 14:09, good for 54th. Freshman Emily Nist finished in 52nd with a time of 14:14. In 64th and 65th place was junior Lauren Kersjes (14:15) and Shaylyn Tuite (14:15), respectively. Junior Brenna Symoniak finished in 77th with a time of 14:20. Freshman Meredith Speakman posted a time of 14:21, good for 79th place. In 94th was Katie Kinkead (14:33.). Molly Malone finished in 110th (14:46).
