XC Finishes Competition at Wisconsin and Princeton

The Syracuse cross country team competed at two different races this weekend with members of the men's and women's teams going to both the Wisconsin adidas Invitational and the Princeton Invitational.

The men's team took eighth place at Wisconsin, finishing ahead of all ACC teams in the race. North Carolina (11th), Notre Dame (14th) and NC State (23rd) all competed at the pre-nationals alternative. Sophomore Martin Hehir had the best finish on the team, taking a 26th place overall in a field of 287 runners with a time of 23:49. Redshirt freshman MJ Erb finished in 37th place and senior Robert Molke took 51st in the eight kilometer race.

The women finished in 11th place at Wisconsin, the best finish among ACC schools. Notre Dame finished in 13th place, Boston College in 16th, NC State in 20th, Duke in 25th and North Carolina in 29th. Margo Malone finished in 30th place overall among 254 runners with a time of 20:22. Jesse Petersen and Meredith Speakman both finished in the top-60 in the six kilometer race.

Across the country in New Jersey, Andrew Palmer and Ryan Perry competed in the Princeton Invitational, finishing in 64th place and 137th place, respectively. The women, who competed with a full team, finished in 17th place. Angelica Peck had the best finish, taking 32nd place. Molly Malone finished in 41st place and Rebecca Skodis rounded out the top-100 SU runners with a 79th place finish.

The Orange competes again next weekend at the John Reif Memorial, hosted by Cornell, on September 25.
