KNOXVILLE, TENN - The Syracuse women's basketball team completed its second practice at the University of Tennessee this morning in preparation for its first round game in the NCAA Tournament. The No. 7 Orange (24-7) will face No. 10 Creighton (24-7) on Saturday, March 23 at 11:20 a.m. at Thompson-Boiling Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN2. This is the fifth NCAA Tournament for the Orange all-time and its first since 2008. Saturday's game is also first-ever meeting between the Orange and Blue Jays.
The winner of the first round game will face the winner of No. 2 Tennessee (24-7) and No. 15 Oral Roberts (18-12) on Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. Tennessee and Oral Robers face off on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
For Orange freshmen Cornelia Fondren and Pachis Roberts, the trip to Tennessee brings the two close to home. Fondren is a native of Memphis, Tenn. while Roberts hails from Powder Spring, Ga. Fondren has started 30 games for the Orange at the point guard position, notching 40 assists in her freshman season. Roberts has seen action in 16 games so far this season, scoring a career-high 11 points twice.
