SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 5/6 Syracusereturns home after a four-game road trip to face rv/rv Louisville on Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m. The Orange is 7-3 on the season and 3-0 in BIG EAST play as it looks to extend its 15-game conference regular-season winning streak against the Cardinals. Admission to the game is free of charge.
The game will be broadcast live on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area. Orange fans can also follow the action on SUathletics.com with live audio and video on Orange All Access. Subscriptions to Orange All Access are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse is coming off a 10-8 come-from-behind victory against Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights were the first to score, finding the back of the net in the first two minutes of play. The Orange answered back with three goals to give Syracuse a 3-1 lead. Rutgers scored twice more before the half but a goal from Amy Cross ensured the Orange's 4-3 lead at halftime.
Rutgers opened the second half with two goals to give the Scarlet Knights a 5-4 lead. Kelly Cross found the back of the net on an assist from Kailah Kempney to tie the game, but Rutgers responded with two more goals. Syracuse and Rutgers each scored again before freshman Kayla Treanor sparked a 4-0 run with 10:35 left to play to give the Orange a 10-8 win.
Treanor led the offense with three goals as eight different players scored for Syracuse. Kelsey Richardson tied her season high with six saves in the victory.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Louisville has posted an 8-4 record on the season and is 0-3 in BIG EAST play. The Cardinals are coming off a 21-2 victory against Marquette. Louisville leads the BIG EAST in goals per game, averaging 14.67 a game.
Katie Olivero leads the offense for Louisville with 54 points, registering 23 goals and 31 assists on the season. Olivero is followed by Nikki Boltja, whose 43 goals are a team high. Boltja averages 3.50 goals per game, which is the best in the BIG EAST. Ashley Herbst has played the majority of the time in the net for the Cardinals, recording 65 saves and posting an 8.44 goals-against average.
Louisville is led by head coach Kellie Young. Young is in her sixth season as head coach for the Cardinals and has led them to a 54-40 record.
SERIES RECORD
The Orange is undefeated against the Cardinals, posting a 5-0 record. Last season, Syracuse defeated Louisville 16-9.
