13-0 Start
- The Syracuse field hockey team is one of two teams nationally that's off to a perfect start through the first seven weeks, with #2 UConn being the other.
- Syracuse's 13-0 start is its best since the 2008 season, when the team won a program record 14 straight games to start the season.
- 'Cuse's 13 wins tie a 1994 stretch for the third longest unbeaten streak in program history, trailing 1993 (16 games) and 2008 (14 games).
Saluting the Seniors
- Syracuse will honor its four seniors - Alma Fenne, Alyssa Manley, Jess Jecko and Emma Russell - prior to Sunday's game as the four student-athletes will be playing in their final regular-season home game.
- Seniors Jess Jecko, Alyssa Manley and Emma Russell have been a part of the highest four-year winning percentage (.835) in program history, with a record of 66-13. The trio's 66 wins are nine short of the program record for most wins in a four-year period, as the Orange went 75-15 from 2008-2011.
- With three NCAA tournament appearances in three seasons, Jecko, Manley and Russell are only the fifth class in program history to reach the NCAA Tournament in every season of their career.
- Fenne joined the class this season, bringing a helpful addition. She's second on the team in scoring this year and earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal in each game last weekend.
To the Top
- The Orange moved up to No. 1 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Poll last week, following wins over Monmouth and Cornell, and remained at the top spot with victories against No. 11 Louisville and Indiana this past weekend.
- The #1 rank is the first for Syracuse since the 2012 season when the team started 12-0.
- Syracuse plays 9 of the 20-currently ranked teams in the regular season, including six contests against the other ACC opponents (every league team is ranked).
- Syracuse has already defeated then No. 6 Stanford, No. 18 UMass, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 11 Boston College, No. 4 Virginia, No. 17 Boston University, and No. 11 Louisville this season.
- Syracuse has been ranked every week in the 20-team poll since the preseason poll of the 2008 season, a streak that spans 83 weeks.
Win Streak Records
- Syracuse is in elite company with its current 13 game win streak.
- The 2008 season Syracuse started 14-0, which is not only the best start to a season, it's also the longest winning streak in program history
- A win on Saturday would tie the mark, while a pair of wins would be the best start to a season and the longest winning streak in program history.
'Cuse vs. Wake Forest
- Syracuse is 2-3 all-time against Wake Forest.
- Senior Emma Russell and junior Serra Degnan are the only two current members of the Orange with points against the Demon Deacons. Russell has three career goals against Wake Forest, two of which came in 'Cuse's 5-2 victory on Oct. 26, 2013. Degnan's lone goal also came in the win.
- Senior Jess Jecko has 13 career saves against Wake Forest, including seven from Syracuse's 5-2 victory on Oct. 26, 2013.
'Cuse vs. Princeton
- The Orange hold a 7-11 all-time record against Princeton, and are 5-3 under head coach Ange Bradley (since 2007).
- The current members of the Orange have combined for seven career goals against Princeton. Senior Emma Russell scored once in the Orange's 2-0 win on Sept. 23, 2012 and once in 'Cuse's 4-3 double-overtime victory on Oct. 5, 2014. Sophomore Annalena Ulbrich also played a part in last year's victory with two goals for the Orange. Junior Serra Degnan scored her first two collegiate goals in Syracuse's 4-0 victory over Princeton on Sept. 22, 2013, a game in which senior Alyssa Manley also scored.
- Senior Jess Jecko has nine career saves against the Tigers.
