
Piacentini Earns CHA Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- After a successful the week with three points for the Syracuse women's ice hockey team, senior forward Melissa Piacentini was chosen as the College Hockey America Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Â
Piacentini finished the weekend with a goal and two assists, guiding the Orange ice hockey team (2-3-0) to a 1-1 record. The senior co-captain registered a goal and assist in a tough 4-3 loss against Connecticut before dishing out an assist to classmate Nicole Ferrara in a 4-0 win over Providence. After the two games over the weekend, Piacentini finished with a plus/minus of +3.
So far this season, Piacentini leads the Orange with seven points, including a team-high four goals to go with three assists. Piacentini already leads the Orange on the all-time records list with 48 total goals while moving into second all-time over the weekend by totaling her 89th point, putting her behind just Holly Carrie-Mattimore '13 (96 points).
Piacentini and the Orange returns to Tennity Ice Pavilion on Wednesday night when the team takes on CHA rival RIT at 7 p.m. Both live video and live stats are available via Cuse.com.
