SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Syracuse women's soccer team will look to capture its second conference win of the season when it takes on the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday, October 22 at 8 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised live on the Regional Sports Network and streamed live on ESPN3.
Syracuse (5-10-1, 1-6 ACC) is just below Miami (5-9, 2-5 ACC) in the conference standings and will fight to earn the positive result. After coming off a 3-0 win against NC State, the Orange will look to continue to improve its conference record to make a late season surge from the bottom of the ranks.
"We've got to replicate that performance, and improve upon it," head coach Phil Wheddon said. "I think our players have worked really hard in the previous week to make sure we're more dynamic in attack and it certainly worked for us on Sunday. We certainly hope we come out with the same energy because we know that Miami will."
After enduring a tough stretch of conference games on the road, the Orange close out the regular season with four consecutive home conference games. They'll look to carry the momentum of home field advantage and the shutout win into the remaining tests of the season.
LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse scored in the first minute against ACC opponent NC State and never looked back, going on to win 3-0. The Orange outshot the Wolfpack, 14-4, and tallied three more corners.
Syracuse goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan recorded three saves to secure the shutout. Emma Firenze scored her first goal of the season just 50 seconds into the game, followed by Stephanie Skilton's fourth of the year and Eva Gordon's second.
SCOUTING THE HURRICANES
Miami is coming off a 3-0 loss to Virginia Tech heading into the matchup against Syracuse. The Hurricanes have lost five of their last seven games that includes three of those contests going into double overtime.
Gracie Lachowecki leads the offensive charge for Miami with a tally of 8 goals on the year. Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Catalina Perez share time in net for the Hurricanes; with Tullis-Joyce recording a save percentage of .649 on the season and Perez recording a .707 save percentage. This season, Miami has posted a 2-4 record in all road games, and is 0-3 in conference road games.
