SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 23/RV Syracuse University women's basketball team will hit the road for the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas for its next two contests. Syracuse will play RV/RV Washington on Friday at 9:45 p.m., before facing in-state foe Fordham on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be played in the South Point Arena.

In its last contest, Syracuse defeated Morgan State, 90-61, on Nov. 23. Syracuse scored 31 fourth-quarter points, its most points scored in a single quarter since women's basketball transitioned from halves to quarters. Junior guard Alexis Peterson led the team in scoring for the second straight game, tallying 17 points.

Washington owns a perfect 4-0 overall record heading into the South Point Shootout. The Huskies boast junior Kelsey Plum, who is the nation's leading scorer. Fordham owns a 2-1 overall record after a 61-49 victory against Lafayette on Tuesday night.

Syracuse's senior class entered as one of the nation's top recruiting classes in 2012. Guards Brianna Butler and Brittney Sykes were the program's third and fourth McDonald's All-Americans, spearheading a class that was ranked No. 6 nationally by the Dan Olson Collegiate Girls' Basketball Report. This group of players is a large reason why Syracuse women's basketball is what it is today.

Since joining the program, Syracuse has won 71 contests and appeared in the NCAA Tournament every year. In that time, SU has won its first two contests in the NCAA Tournament in program history.

The senior class has been a driving force in that time. The group has scored 2,993 points in their Syracuse careers and earned three all-conference recognitions. The team has been ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press Poll for 32 weeks during their careers, as well.

Last Time Out
Syracuse opened its 2015-16 home slate with a 90-61 victory against Morgan State in the Carrier Dome on Nov. 23. It marked the most points scored by the Orange since Dec. 1, 2014 against Vermont.

Syracuse scored 31 points in the fourth quarter to springboard to a 29-point defeat of Morgan State. It marked the most points scored in a quarter by SU since women's basketball transitioned from halves to quarters in 2015-16.

Tied at 24-24 with 8:28 remaining in the second quarter, Syracuse went on a season-best 11-0 run to escape the clutches of the visiting Bears. Morgan State would not get the Orange's lead to below eight points for the remainder of the game.

A season-high four players scored in double-figures in the squad's home opener. In total, 11 of 12 players that saw time on the court for Syracuse scored on Monday night. Junior guard Alexis Peterson led the team in scoring for the second straight contest, registering 17 points on the night.
