
Liverpool Native Set to Join Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Over the coming weeks Syracuse University head field hockey coach Ange Bradley is announcing the program's 2015 signing class. Be sure the check Cuse.com as the Orange unveils its incoming class one-by-one.

In today's edition, Bradley is happy to announce the addition of Megan Evangelista, a goalkeeper from Liverpool, N.Y.

"I am excited to have another New York goalkeeper join our Orange family," commented Bradley. "Megan has a history of Syracuse in her blood. Her parents met at Syracuse, her uncle teaches in the Newhouse School, and her cousins graduated from Syracuse."

Evangelista will join the Orange from Liverpool High School, where she was coached by Kim Dominick. She was teammates with fellow newcomer Emma Lamison from 2011-12. In her high school career, Evangelista recorded 292 saves and helped the Warriors to a state championship appearance.

"Going to Syracuse has always been a dream of mine," added Evangelista. "I have grown up going to Syracuse field hockey games. To call that my home field is incredible."

As a senior, Evangelista recorded 106 saves and only allowed 19 goals in 16 games. She earned all-league honors for the third time as a Warrior and collected all-state accolades for the second time.

"Megan is a very quick and athletic goalkeeper," stated Bradley. "She is competitive, feisty, and committed to developing to compete for a starting position and lead the Orange backfield. We are happy to welcome Megan to our Syracuse family."

The daughter of Phil and Dina, Evangelista also has been played on the Liverpool lacrosse team. She has played goalkeeper for the Warriors' lacrosse team for three seasons.
