Orange Dominate Stat Sheet In 0-0 Draw

SYRACUSE, N.Y- The Syracuse women's soccer team dominated majority of the game against Cornell on Friday afternoon, but both sides were unable to score, finishing out the contest with a 0-0 draw at the SU Soccer Stadium.

Syracuse (2-4-1) outshot Cornell (3-0-2) 13-3 overall and finished with five more corner kicks. For 'Cuse, it is the third consecutive game that the Orange have dominated the stat sheet, but failed to come away with the victory.

The Orange had numerous opportunities to score, including a shot by senior Jackie Firenze in the 47th minute that was kept out of the net after a diving effort from Big Red goalkeeper Tierney Kelsey. Kelsey was the difference maker for Cornell, keeping Syracuse scoreless with six saves.

Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan made two saves on three total shots. The Orange defense played out a stellar performance that barely allowed Cornell any offensive opportunities.

Syracuse had another golden chance in the 78th minute, starting with a shot from graduate student Alex Koval. Sophomore Jessica Vigna found the ball off a rebound with an open net, but missed the target high.

The Orange outshot Cornell in overtime by only one, 2-1, before the game concluded in a 0-0 draw.

'Cuse will play again at home on Sunday when the Orange take on in-state rival Colgate (2-4-0) at 3 p.m. Both live video and live stats can be accessed via Cuse.com. Time Warner Sports Channel will also broadcast the game live on television.
