SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After two weeks off from action, the Syracuse women's ice hockey team (0-2) will return to the ice this weekend with a two-game series at Northeastern (2-2) on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game is set to start at 7 p.m. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The Orange opened the season with a weekend series against Bemidji State at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Jessica Sibley scored the first goal of the 2016-17 season on a power play in the first period on assists from Savannah Rennie and Larissa Martyniuk.

Goalies Abbey Miller and Maddi Welch split games in goal for Syracuse, with Miller starting the first and Welch the second.

Six members of the Orange made their debuts over the opening weekend including freshmen Amanda Backebo, Savannah Rennie, Kelli Rowswell and Logan Hicks. Lindsay Eastwood and Brooke Avery also played their first games for Syracuse.

Syracuse's leading shot-takers against Bemidji State were Stephanie Grossi and Alysha Burriss with five each, followed by Sibley, Rennie, Allie Munroe and Megan Quinn with four.

Northeastern is coming off a couple of road victories against Lindenwood on Oct. 7 and 8, after dropping the first two games of the season to St. Lawrence.

Overall, the Huskies own a 3-1-2 record in the series, including a 2-1-0 record in Boston. Syracuse picked up its first win of the series on Oct. 4, 2012, 4-1, at Matthews Arena in Boston.

Both games will be streamed by GameCentral and live stats will be provided by Northeastern.
