Orange Earn Preseason Plaudits

Syracuse is ranked No. 16 nationally by Athlon Sports and Sporting News
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Coming off its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament final, the expectations are high for the 2016-17 Syracuse University women's basketball team. With the season opener right around the corner, Syracuse has been recognized in several preseason publications.
The Orange have been ranked No. 16 nationally in preseason rankings by Athlon Sports and Sporting News. In addition, the team was ranked No. 19 in the country by Lindy's Sports.
Earlier this week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced its preseason polls, predicting Syracuse to finish fourth in the league. Senior guard Alexis Peterson collected Preseason All-ACC Team honors.
Fans can get their first glimpse of the 2016-17 Orange on Friday, Oct. 21 at Preferred Mutual Orange Madness. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Tickets are available for purchase online or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office.
Syracuse opens the season on Friday, Nov. 11 against Rhode Island. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome.
