
Grossi Tabbed CHA Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â After leading the Syracuse women's ice hockey team with four goals over the weekend, sophomore Stephanie Grossi was named the College Hockey America Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Grossi recorded her second hat trick of the season over the weekend, scoring two game-winning goals for Syracuse (18-13-3, 14-4-2 CHA) in a series sweep over Lindenwood.The sophomore's monster weekend led Syracuse to its third CHA sweep in a row and seventh consecutive win for the Orange.
On Friday, Grossi started off the weekend with a three-goal performance to lift the Orange to a 6-1 win over Lindenwood. The following day, Grossi scored the game's first goal against the Lady Lions, which eventually stood up as the game-winning goal in a 2-0 shutout for Syracuse.
The second-line forward leads the Orange with 32 points, which currently ranks second in the CHA. Grossi is second on the team with 11 goals and first with 21 assists. Grossi's 32 points is three points more than what she put up last season as the CHA Rookie of the Year.
Grossi and the Orange finished the regular season in second place in the CHA; only one point behind first-place Mercyhurst. By finishing second, Syracuse clinched a bye in the playoffs and will take on either No. 3 Penn State, No. 4 Robert Morris or No. 5 Lindenwood in the CHA semifinals on Friday, March 4 in Buffalo, N.Y. at the Harborcenter. Whoever is the top seed that comes out of the CHA quarterfinals is who will play Syracuse.
