SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three members of the Syracuse women's hockey team have earned College Hockey America weekly honors following consecutive shutouts at Lindenwood this weekend. Abbey Miller is Goalie of the Week, Allie Munroe is Player of the Week and Savannah Rennie has earned Co-Rookie of the Week.
The Orange have put together a four-game winning streak since resuming conference play after the winter break. Over the past four games, Syracuse has outscored opponents 15-2 and outshot foes 142-59.
This is the fourth time that Syracuse has had a claim to all three awards given out by the conference. It last happened on Nov. 25, 2012 when Margot Scharfe, Kallie Billadeau and Melissa Piacentini won across the board.
Miller was responsible for both shutouts at Lindenwood, bringing her season total to five, one shy of tying the single season record at Syracuse. The Anoka, Minn. native leads the league in goals against average with a 1.80 mark and she has the sixth most shutouts in the country. The junior currently has a 150:30 scoreless streak going, dating back to the Orange's game against Penn State on Jan. 14. It is Miller's second time being honored with Goalie of the Week this season and the third time of her career.
Munroe had a career night on Friday against the Lions, registering four points in the win. The sophomore was a part of all but one of the Orange's five goals. The four points were the second most scored in a single game in Syracuse history. She also had an assist in Saturday's game and went plus-5 for the weekend against the Lions. The Yarmouth, N.S. native has been on fire in 2017, scoring four of her five goals and 10 points after the New Year. Munroe is third among defensemen in the conference with her 16 points this season.
Rennie grabbed her first game-winner of her Orange career on Friday at Lindenwood, scoring nearly five minutes into the game. The freshman was just getting starting, as she would also assist on two more goals that evening, registering a career-high three points. With six points this season, the East St. Paul, Manitoba native has the sixth highest total amongst freshmen in CHA.
Syracuse will host Robert Morris this weekend with conference standings on the line. The Colonials are currently two points ahead of the Orange in the standings with a 9-1-2 record in league play. The two teams will take the ice on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m.
