
Peterson Named Finalist for Nancy Lieberman Award

Peterson ranks third in the nation in scoring
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior guard Alexis Peterson of the Syracuse women's basketball team is one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Nancy Lieberman Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday afternoon. The Nancy Lieberman Award is presented annually to the nation's top point guard.
A child and family studies major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Peterson has continued to add to her already impressive list of accolades this season. A Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, she has been named the league's player of the week four times this year. Peterson has been recognized on the watch lists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, Naismith Trophy, Wade Trophy, and Wooden Award, as well.
A Columbus, Ohio native, Peterson currently averages 23.7 points, 7.2 assists, and 3.3 steals per contest. She currently leads the conference in scoring and ranks second in the league in assists and steals. Peterson ranks third in program history with 1,775 points scored in her collegiate career, as well.
Peterson and the No. 24/21 Orange take on No. 15/15 Duke in a top-25 showdown on Friday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. The game will be available on ACC Network Extra.
