
Peterson Tallies AP All-America Honors

Peterson is the program's fourth All-American
NEW YORK – Senior guard Alexis Peterson earned 2017 Associated Press All-America Second Team accolades, as announced on Monday afternoon. Peterson is the program's third Associated Press All-American, joining Nicole Michael (2009-10) and Kayla Alexander (2012-13).
A child and family studies major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Peterson already collected All-America plaudits, earning 2017 espnW All-America Honorable Mention accolades. She is a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award and Dawn Staley Award and is on the national ballot for the John R. Wooden Award, as well.
The Columbus, Ohio native became the first student-athlete in program history to notch conference player of the year honors when she was named the 2017 Blue Ribbon Panel Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.
Peterson set the Syracuse single-season records with 721 points scored and 231 assists during the 2016-17 campaign. On the year, she averaged 23.4 points, 7.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per contest.
In 134 games played in her collegiate career, Peterson scored 1,978 points, which ranks second in school history, and dished out a program-record 590 assists.
