Orange Host Eagles in NCAA Tournament Second Round Sunday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. --Â Syracuse opens play in the 2017 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament when it hosts Boston College in second-round action on Sunday, May 14. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.

Tickets for Sunday's game are $8 for adults and $5 for youth age 18 and under and senior citizens. Fans can also watch the game on ESPN3 or listen to the live broadcast on ESPN 1200 AM and WJPZ 89.1 FM.

ORANGE IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament and earned a first-round bye. The Orange posted a 15-6 record during the regular season and advanced to the championship game of the ACC Tournament.

Syracuse is making its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 10th in the past 11 years. The Orange have an all-time record of 17-14 in NCAA Tournament play and have won their last nine tournament openers. Syracuse has advanced to the national semifinals in each of the last five years.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles defeated Canisius, 21-9, in the first round on Friday to improve their record to 14-6.

Sam Apuzzo leads the Boston College offense. The All-ACC First Team honoree is one of the leading scorers in the nation. Apuzzo recorded seven points against Canisius, giving her 100 this season. Kenzi Kent also had seven points (2g, 5a) against the Golden Griffins, while Kate Weeks and Kaileen Hart had five goals apiece.

THE SERIES
Syracuse and Boston College will meet for the 18th time on Sunday. The Orange own a 15-2 advantage in the series. One of those victories came in the quarterfinals of the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

The teams met on Feb. 11 in the Carrier Dome in what was the season opener for Syracuse. The Orange used a 6-0 scoring run to pull away from the Eagles in an 18-8 victory. Junior Riley Donahue (Camillus, N.Y.) tied her career high with seven points in the win.

UP NEXT…
The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal where it will face either Florida or USC.
