
Cooper Invited to USA U19 World Cup Team Trials

Cooper knocked down 81 3-pointers as a rookie
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman guard Gabby Cooper of the Syracuse women's basketball team is one of 33 players that have accepted an invitation to the 2017 United States U19 World Cup Team trials, USA Basketball announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The trials to select the 12-member team will be held May 18-21 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Athletes eligible for the team must be 19 years old or younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 1998) and United States citizens.
The United States have won the past six events and will look to make it seven straight in Cividale del Friuli and Udine, Italy from July 22-30.
A 2017 Blue Ribbon Panel and Coaches' Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team honoree, Cooper set the Orange freshman single-season 3-point field goals made record, knocking down 81 shots from long range. She ranked sixth among the nation's rookies in 3-point field goals made on the 2016-17 campaign.
A freshman in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Cooper matched the Syracuse single-game record with eight 3-pointers made against Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 18. She recorded 33 3-point field goals made in the final seven games of the year.
