
Twelve Named to CHA All-Academic Team

CHA honors 12 SU student-athletes for academic success in 2016-17
WINTHROP, Mass. – Syracuse ice hockey continues to excel in the classroom as 12 'Cuse members earned a spot on the College Hockey America All-Academic Team. This season marks the fourth time in program history that Syracuse has placed 12 or more student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.
Seniors Jessica Sibley (communications and rhetorical studies), Morgan Blank (international relations) and Heather Schwarz (health and exercise science), juniors Brooke Avery (public relations), Alysha Burriss (child and family studies), Stephanie Grossi (biochemistry) and Abbey Miller (communications and rhetorical studies), sophomore Sarah Stuehr (earth sciences) and freshmen Amanda Bäckebo (communications and rhetorical studies), Ady Cohen (forensic science), Allie Olnowich (sports management) and Kelli Rowswell (health and physical education) were honored by the league for excellence in academics during the 2016-17 season.
Grossi led the honorees, placing on the All-Academic Team for the third consecutive season while Sibley and Blank both earned academic honors for the second time in their college careers.
To qualify for the CHA All-Academic Team, the student-athletes must post a 3.0 GPA or better in all academic semesters in which her team was actively competing.
