Jessica Sibley signs with the NWHL's Buffalo Beauts
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Syracuse ice hockey added another player to the professional ranks as Jessica Sibley signed with the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women's Hockey League, as announced Friday. Sibley joins former 'Cuse player Jacquie Greco ('13) and eight other CHA alums on the defending Isobel Cup champion Beauts.
"I'm very eager to get started in the NWHL," said Sibley. "The Beauts' coaching staff has been wonderful to work with. They were quick to help me with living accommodations and ensured I had everything I needed to make the move out East. I want to do everything I can to help my team defend the Isobel Cup."
Sibley finished her career at Syracuse in the top 10 in three major categories in program history. She is fourth in career points (92), sixth in career goals (35) and tied for fourth in assists (57). Her aptitude for playing under pressure resulted in a program-leading 10 game-winning goals throughout her 'Cuse career.
During her senior season, Sibley served as captain of the Syracuse team that tied the school record with 14 conference wins and appeared in the CHA Tournament title game. She tallied four goals and 15 assists for 19 points on the season, highlighted by a seven-game point streak from Jan. 27 to March 3.
The forward received the CHA Scoring Trophy and the Best Defensive Forward Award during her junior season in recognition for her skills on both offense and defense. Sibley finished the 2015-16 season with 30 points (12 goals and 18 assists) and 29 blocked shots.
Sibley graduated with a degree in communications and rhetorical studies and was a two-time member of the CHA All-Academic Team for excellence in academics.
