Redshirt sophomore Lindsay Eastwood met with the 2017-18 incoming freshman class to get the inside scoop on their likes/dislikes and the upcoming season. Here is her first Freshman Feature:
Â
Kristen Siermachesky, also known as "Siermy" or "Kris," is a defenseman from New Liskeard, Ontario, but she played for the Stoney Creek Sabres. The blueliner will add some height to the Syracuse ice hockey team as she stands at 5 feet 11 inches tall.
Â
After Siermy's brief figure skating career, she began playing hockey at the age of seven and never looked back. A couple of her favorite players are Sidney Crosby and Erik Karlsson. However, if she could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, she would choose "The Great One", Wayne Gretzky.
Â
As for her go to pre-game meal, she loves chicken breast with pasta and a side of broccoli. Siermy has a few pre-game drills she likes to complete to feel prepared and she will listen to almost anything, with her music preferences ranging from country to rap.
Â
The freshman chose to don orange and navy this season because she was dazzled by the Syracuse athletic facilities, the knowledgeable and friendly coaching staff, and all of the academic opportunities.
Â
Siermy is most looking forward to being challenged to meet her potential both academically and physically, in addition to meeting new friends at Syracuse. Some advice that has stuck with her throughout her hockey career is, "whatever you believe, you can achieve."
You better believe it here at Syracuse, Siermy! Welcome aboard, No. 12.
