Syracuse alumna Heather Schwarz (’17) inks pro deal with the Boston Pride
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Syracuse ice hockey alumnae continue to thrive as the Orange add another player to the professional ranks with the signing of Heather Schwarz to the Boston Pride, as announced by the National Women's Hockey League. Schwarz joins former 'Cuse players Jacquie Greco ('13) and Jessica Sibley ('17) in the NWHL.
"Not only do I get to continue playing hockey as a professional, but being in a city like Boston is very exciting," said Schwarz. "I've played with and against some of the women on the Pride throughout my hockey career. I'm proud to be part of their team. I'm excited for the opportunity to play in Boston again and to have my parents and loved ones watch me play professional hockey. Signing with the Pride is a dream come true."
Schwarz, a 2017 graduate, finished her career at Syracuse with 22 goals and 29 assists in 141 games played for the Orange. Her 141 games ranks tied for seventh in program history for games played.
"Heather worked extremely hard both on and off the ice, and her game improved each and every year during her tenure here," said Syracuse head coach Paul Flanagan. "We wish her the best as she moves on to the NWHL."
During her senior season, Schwarz played the best hockey of her collegiate career, scoring 11 goals and recording 10 assists for 21 points on the year. She scored in three-straight games including at No. 5 Colgate and finished the season second on the team and eighth in the league in goals.
The forward was a two-time Rookie of the Week honoree in 2013 and a three-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. Schwarz graduated with a degree in health and exercise science.
