
Orange Get Set for Home-and-Home Series Against No. 2 Clarkson

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange are slated for a weekend home-and-home against No. 2 Clarkson starting Friday, Oct. 26. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. in Tennity Ice Pavilion before the Syracuse hockey team heads to Clarkson for a 3 p.m. contest Saturday.
"We're going to gear up and come in here Friday," head coach Paul Flanagan said. "We'll get ourselves ready, get the energy and go for it. We traditionally have some good games with them. It's a chance to play the best and see how we stack up against one of the top teams in the country."
ORANGE RECOGNIZED
Forward Anonda Hoppner and forward Lauren Bellefontaine were tabbed as CHA Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their performances in Syracuse's two-win weekend at Lindenwood.
Hoppner earned the Player of the Week honor after recording four points in the two wins. She had an assist in Friday's 5-4 overtime win before scoring a shorthanded goal and tallying two more assists in Syracuse's 6-3 win Saturday.
Bellefontaine, meanwhile, garnered the Rookie of the Week honor following the first multi-goal game of her career. She scored two goals and added an assist in the win Saturday, assisting on the game's opening goal before scoring two second-period goals of her own.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Clarkson leads the series with an all-time record of 14-1-1 against Syracuse. The lone win in the series for the Orange was by a score of 3-1 at home in 2010.
Clarkson and Syracuse twice last season with both games. The first matchup ended in a 2-2 tie, while the second game was 4-1 in favor of the Golden Knights.
WHAT'S NEW WITH THE ORANGE
Syracuse comes into the game this Friday with a record of 2-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play. The last game for the Orange was a 4-1 loss in Ithaca, N.Y., Tuesday against No. 7 Cornell.
Defenseman Jessica DiGirolamo, Bellefontaine, and forward Emma Polaski share a tie for the team lead in goals thus far this season, with three each through six games.
Goaltenders Ady Cohen and Maddi Welch continue to split time in net this season. Cohen has saved 64 shots so far while Welch has picked up 69, and both goalies have save percentages north of .850.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The defending national champion Golden Knights are 5-1-0 through the early part of the season and currently rank second in the nation.
Clarkson is third in the nation in total team goals (25). Elizabeth Giguere leads the Golden Knight in scoring with a team-best six goals this season, and is tied for first in total points with 10.
Kassidy Sauve has one shutout so far this season as the goaltender for Clarkson. Sauve has allowed 13 goals, good for an average 2.17 per game.

Following the home game Friday against Clarkson, the Orange will head to Potsdam, N.Y., to play the Golden Knights again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
