SYRACUSE, N.Y. - There's just one day until the season opener, and Syracuse hockey head coach Paul Flanagan and his staff will soon have the opportunity to see this year's squad in action. The Orange play at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

ORANGE FORWARDS
The Leading Scorer
Alternate captain redshirt senior Brooke Avery will lead the Orange's offensive charge this season. The native of Conrad, N.H., led Syracuse in goals last season, netting 14 scores in 36 games played. She ranked second in College Hockey America (CHA) in game-winning goals with five while posting the second-highest shot percentage on the team (.182).
Avery has 28 points (18 goals, 10 assists) in 69 career games.
The Point-Getter
Junior Savannah Rennie earned CHA All-Rookie Team honors in her freshman season with the Orange, and her sophomore season didn't disappoint. She tallied 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) last season, the third-most total of this year's returners.Â
Rennie has 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) in 68 career games. Her 37 points are the most of all Orange forwards.
The Big Shooter
Junior Kelli Rowswell, who played in all 36 games last season, will play a big role on Syracuse's forward line this year. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native finished the 2017-18 campaign with 13 points (seven goals, six assists) and ranked second on the team with 92 shots.
She earned College Hockey America (CHA) Player of the Week once last year, receiving the honor after scoring a goal in three straight games (vs. Wisconsin, vs. Providence, vs. Providence). Rowswell has 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 70 career games.
The Transfer
Junior Anonda Hoppner comes to Syracuse after spending her freshman and sophomore years at Colgate. A native of Carp, Ontario, Hoppner played in 68 games for the Raiders, tallying 16 points (six goals, 10 assists).
She'll slot in as another dynamic playmaker on the Orange's forward line.
The Freshmen
Abby Moloughney, Lauren Bellefontaine and Marielle McHale all join the Orange as first-year newcomers this season.
Moloughney was a three-year member of the Nepean Jr. Wildcats, notching 38 goals and 39 assists in 132 games. Playing alongside fellow freshmen Moloughney and defender Shelby Calof, she was tabbed as an assistant captain during her senior season and went on to score 19 goals and post 21 assists in 45 games.
Bellefontaine, originally from Kemptville, Ontario, was an assistant captain, along with Moloughney, for the Nepean Jr. Wildcats and notched six goals and nine assists. McHale prepped at Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass, posting 42 goals and 35 assists during her four-year tenure with the team.
