SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange's conference season rolls on Friday, Nov. 16, when the Syracuse hockey team hosts College Hockey America foe RIT. The puck drops at 7 p.m. inside the Tennity Ice Pavilion.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Syracuse holds the advantage with an all-time series record of 19-7-2 against RIT. Syracuse has only played three teams more times than RIT in its history (Mercyhurst, Robert Morris, and Lindenwood).
The Orange have dominated at home in the series, boasting a 10-1-1 record against the Tigers inside Tennity. Syracuse is also riding a nine-game winning streak against RIT entering Friday's game, as the Orange won all five matchups with the Tigers last season.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
RIT is coming off a split of its weekend series at Dartmouth. Forward Brittney Gout was big for the Tigers against the Big Green, posting one goal and three assists. Gout is tied with fellow forward Kendall Cornine for the team lead with nine points.
Terra Lanteigne is the Tigers' primary goaltender, having started all 12 games in net this season. The junior has 390 saves and has allowed only 24 goals this season, good for a save percentage of .942. Her save percentage is ninth best in the country and tops in the CHA.
WHAT'S NEW WITH THE ORANGE
Syracuse hosts RIT on the heels of a two-game series against Princeton. The Orange tied the Tigers, 1-1, Saturday before losing Sunday.
Four different skaters scored for the Orange over the weekend, while seven different skaters tallied an assist. Defenseman Jessica DiGirolamo's fourth goal of the season Sunday came on a power play, and Syracuse now ranks tied for fifth in the country in power play goals (10).
Orange goaltender Maddi Welch started both games against Princeton, allowing one goal and totaling 21 saves in Saturday's tie. The senior is allowing less than three goals per contest (2.85) in eight games played this season.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
The Orange head to Burlington, Vt. for the Windjammer Classic. Syracuse will play two games in the tournament, with the first coming on Friday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. against host Vermont.
