
Orange Predicted to Finish Third in CHA Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â The Syracuse ice hockey team was tabbed to finish third in the 2018-19 College Hockey America Preseason Coaches Poll, released Wednesday, Sept. 19 by the conference.
It marks the fourth consecutive year the Orange are picked to finish in the top three of CHA. Syracuse was the league's preseason favorite in both 2015 and 2016, and the squad was predicted to finish second in last season's poll.
Mercyhurst (25 points) was selected to finish as champions in this year's poll, receiving five of the six first-place votes. Robert Morris, which has won each of the last two CHA regular season championships, was picked to finished second (19 points) and garnered the other remaining first-place vote.
The Orange hold the third spot (17 points) ahead of Penn State (14 points), Lindenwood (10 points) and RIT (5).
Syracuse opens the 2018-19 season with an exhibition against Université de Montréal at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. The first regular season contest is set for Saturday, Oct. 6 at Boston College.
