
Orange Return to Action in Wisconsin

After a month layoff, the Syracuse cross country teams were back in action on Friday at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational – the largest regular season meet on the Orange's schedule.
Junior transfer Amanda Vestri took 37th to lead the Orange women to a 25th place finish overall. Vestri was the sixth finisher among ACC competitors, crossing the line in 20:36.8. Junior Rachel Bonner (21:03.8) took 70th, followed by graduate student Jordan Jacob (21:23.1) in 116th. Junior Kelsey Potts (22:01.7) and senior Madeleine Davison (22:02.1) rounded out the scoring in 193rd and 194th. Justice Holden-Betts crossed the line in 22:20.7 and Eleanor Lawler finished in 22:50.3.
Nathan Henderson had a strong day for the 'Cuse men, taking 50th overall. The redshirt-sophomore finished in 24:17.5 to lead all Orange runners. Redshirt-freshman Nathan Lawler took 63rd (24:23.5), followed by redshirt-freshman Noah Beveridge (24:33.8/141st). Senior Kevin James (25:05.6/170th) and redshirt-freshman Matthew Scrape (25:12.8/178th) rounded out the Orange scoring. Simon Smith crossed the line in 25:13.5 and Joe Dragon finished in 25:21.1. The 'Cuse men finished in 24th as a team.
Dominic Hockenbury (24:45.5) took 10th in the men's 8K 'B' race, followed by Stephen Schulz (25:09.0), who took 29th. Kayli Jones (22:12.1) and Olivia Elston (22:30.2) represented the Orange women in the open 'B' race, both finishing in the top-65.
The Orange will have a final tune-up meet next weekend at the John Reif Memorial, before heading to Blacksburg two weeks from today for the ACC Championships.
