SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The second multi-point game of her career helped junior forward Victoria Klimek earn College Hockey America (CHA) Player of the Week honors. Klimek tallied a goal and as assist in Syracuse ice hockey's 4-3 overtime loss to St. Lawrence Saturday in War Memorial Arena.
Â
Klimek started the day by earning the primary assist on senior forward Anonda Hoppner's game-opening goal halfway through the first period. Klimek then scored six minutes into the second period off a pass from freshman Anna Leschyshyn to tie the game at 2-2. The Orangeville, Ontario native now has two goals and two assists on the year. In three years at Syracuse, she's scored 14 times with six assists for 20 points.Â
Â
Klimek is the third Orange player to be recognized by the conference this season. Freshman defender Mae Batherson earned Rookie of the Week honors following her three-point (2G, 1A) weekend against RIT Nov. 1-2, and junior defender Jessica DiGirolamo was named Player of the Week on Oct. 7 after scoring one goal and logging two assists against No. 7 Boston College.
Â
Up Next
Klimek and the Orange return to the ice Saturday, Nov. 23 when the team travels to State College, Pa. for a two-game series against Penn State. Puck drop at Pegula Ice Arena is set for 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
