
Polaski, Moloughney Garner CHA Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore forward Emma Polaski and freshman forward Abby Moloughney claimed College Hockey America weekly awards after five-point performances against Lindenwood last weekend, the conference announced Monday, Feb. 25. Polaski was named Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Moloughney was recognized as Rookie of the Week for the second time, as well.
The Orange swept the series against Lindenwood, winning 5-4 in overtime Friday night before cruising to a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon. Syracuse won all four of its games versus the Lions this year, sweeping the season series.
Polaski and Moloughney both played large parts in the Orange's perfect weekend. Polaski scored the game-tying goal, evening the score at 4-4 to extend the game into overtime, in Syracuse's win Friday. It was her team-leading 11th goal of the season.
The sophomore also carded two assists in Friday's win, helping on goals by teammates sophomore forward Jessica DiGirolamo and redshirt junior defenseman Lindsay Eastwood. Polaski had three points in the win.
Polaski followed up Friday night's performance with a two-assist effort in Syracuse's 5-1 win on Senior Day, dishing out helpers on goals by Victoria Klimek and Moloughney. She leads the Orange in goals (11) and points (21) this season.
Moloughney, meanwhile, scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot in overtime to seal the Orange's 5-4 victory. She logged two assists before providing the overtime heroics, finishing the game with three points.
The freshman came back Saturday and scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season. She leads all Syracuse rookies in goals (8) and points (18).
Polaski, Moloughney and the rest of the Orange complete the regular season next weekend. Syracuse travels to Moon Township, Pa., to face Robert Morris twice. The puck drops at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1 and at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
