
Orange Ranked Top 15 in Both Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's basketball team (24-8, 11-5 ACC) came in at No. 15 in this week's Associated Press (AP) Poll and moved up three spots in to No. 14 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Orange went 2-1 at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament last week, reaching the semifinals for the second time in program history.
Syracuse defeated Virginia, 67-57, in its first game of the week advancing to meet 4-seed Miami in the quarterfinals. Digna Strautmane led all scorers with 14 points and five rebounds against the Cavaliers while guards Tiana Mangakahia and Kiara Lewis scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. Redshirt senior Miranda Drummond added 11 points.
In the quarterfinal, Syracuse set a tournament record with 14 3-pointers and defeated Miami, 92-85. Five Orange players scored in double-digits while Mangakahia recorded an ACC Tournament record 13 assists.
Pitted against No. 4 Notre Dame in the semifinals, Syracuse lost to the eventual ACC Champion, 66-91. Mangakahia led the Orange with 14 points and six assists. Gabrielle Cooper went 3-for-5 behind the arc to contribute 12 points, while Drummond added 10 points.
The Orange are await their seeding for the NCAA Tournament where they were last projected as a top-16 seed and probable host by the selection committee in the March 4 Top-16 reveal. The selection show is set for Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. Fans can watch on ESPN.
