CALGARY, Alta. - Syracuse women's ice hockey defender Jessica DiGirolamo has earned a spot on Hockey Canada's Women's Development Team roster and will play the United States in a three-game series in Lake Placid, N.Y. Aug. 14-17, Hockey Canada announced on Sunday. The final 23-player roster is made up of three goaltenders, seven defenders, and 13 forwards.
Â
DiGirolamo is one of three players on the roster from the College Hockey America conference, joining Robert Morris goaltender Raygan Kirk and Mercyhurst forward Alexa Vasko.
Â
Â
DiGirolamo is coming off a 2018-19 season that saw the Orange claim their first CHA title in program history after defeating Robert Morris, 6-2, in the championship game. A major defensive contributor to Syracuse's victory run, DiGirolamo put up three points while limiting the opposition to just six goals over three CHA-postseason games to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. Overall last season, the Mississauga, Ontario native led all Orange defensemen in goals (7) and ranked second in points (18), while also blocking the second-most shots for the 'Cuse (70). DiGirolamo also collected AHCA Scholar All-America honors after the season for earning a GPA above 3.6 in both the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters.
