
Orange Roll to Sweep at Coast-to-Coast Battle

Phenomenal season debuts for most of the Orange competitors led a clean sweep of the men's and women's races at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
The women were led by a runner-up performance from Amanda Vestri in her Orange debut, with sophomore Laura Dickinson right on her heels in third. In total, 'Cuse put four in the top-nine and all-five scorers in the top-14.
The men used two top-five performances from Joe Dragon and Aidan Tooker, with all-five men's scorers finishing in the top-23.
Vestri, the Iowa State transfer, crossed the line in 17:03.0, just 0.6 seconds off Providence senior Abbey Wheeler's pace for the overall win. Dickinson finished 2.4 seconds behind Vestri, also in contention for the meet win. Graduate transfer Jordan Jacob placed seventh overall in her Orange debut, finishing in 17:27.1, while Rachel Bonner marked the fourth top-10 finisher, taking ninth in 17:30.1. Abigail Spiers rounded out the scoring in 17:44.1.
Madeleine Davison (17:54.9), Kelsey Potts (18:31.2), Justice Holden-Betts (18:26.2), Eleanor Lawler (18:47.1) and Emma Wilson (19:10.8) also turned in strong performances.
Dragon led the men with a time of 24:23.5, followed by Tooker (24:25.4) and Kevin James (24:36.4) in fifth and 11th, respectively. Noah Beveridge (24:50.0) and Nathan Lawler (24:52.0) finished in 21st and 23rd to round out the 'Cuse scoring.
Stephen Schulz (24:56.2), Matthew Scrape (25:00.5), Simon Smith (25:03.9) and Dom Hockenbury (25:40.2) also raced for the Orange.
The Orange men racked up 64 points to defeat Army West Point (91), Stony Brook (129), Harvard (151) and No. 3 Washington (156). The women earned 35 points, besting host Boston College (83) and fellow ACC foe Wake Forest (106).
Syracuse is back in action on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
