
Orange Skaters Lose at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Syracuse lost a 3-1 decision to Colgate at the Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton, N.Y. The Raiders (2-0-0 overall) took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Eleri MacKay just 88 seconds into the first period. Syracuse (0-2-0) responded to tie the game less than three minutes later on a goal by senior captain Kristen Siermachesky, who fired a shot past Colgate goalie Kayle Osborne to tie the game at one. Freshman Rayla Clemons assisted on the Siermachesky goal.
Orange goalie Allison Small turned away 17 Colgate shots through the first 40 minutes of the game and finished with 31 saves. She has 664 saves in 26 games played at Syracuse.
After the early first period goals, neither team scored again until Colgate's Rosalie Demers tallied the game-winner for the Raiders with 7:40 left In the game. Then MacKay gave the Raiders a two goal cushion 41 seconds later for the final score of 3-1.
