
Hockey to Host RIT in Weekend Series

The Orange ice hockey team will host RIT in a weekend series on November 27 and 29. The teams square off at 7 pm on Friday and at 3 pm on Sunday at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Fans can watch both game live on Cuse.com.

Syracuse (0-2 overall) holds the all-time series advantage heading into the weekend (21-11-4), including a 2-1-1 mark against the Tigers in 2019-20. Orange senior Emma Polaski has led the Orange offense against RIT during her tenure, having scored 11 points, (seven goals and four assists) against the Tigers. Junior Abby Moloughney is next with seven points (two goals and five assists), while senior Jessica DiGirolamo has six points (one goal and five assists).

Syracuse opened the 2020-21 season last weekend against Colgate. The Raiders won the first game, 3-2 in overtime in Syracuse and the second game, 3-1, in Hamilton. Freshman Rayla Clemons kicked off her Syracuse career scoring two goals in the first contest and recording an assist in the second outing. Senior Victoria Klimek and sophomore Brynn Koocher assisted on both goals Friday night, while senior Kristen Siermachesky scored the Orange goal on Sunday. Senior goalie Allison Small had 59 saves in the two games.

Syracuse head coach Paul Flanagan is in his 13th season as the Orange leader and his 23rd as a head coach. The 1980 St. Lawrence graduate has a career record of 404-290-66. Flanagan, who has led the Orange program since its inception in 2008-09, guided the 2018-19 Orange to the CHA championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. He has a 174-207-42 record at Syracuse. Prior to his Syracuse tenure, Flanagan coached the St. Lawrence women's team for 10 years, guiding the Saints to five consecutive NCAA tournaments from 2004 to 2008, including Frozen Fours in four consecutive seasons beginning in 2004.
