SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Abby Moloughney's two-goal performance in Syracuse ice hockey's regular season finale against Robert Morris Saturday earned the sophomore her second College Hockey America (CHA) Player of the Week honor this season. Moloughney's goals helped the Orange (13-19-2, 11-7-2 CHA) split the weekend against RMU, 'Cuse going on to win 4-2.
Moloughney put 'Cuse up 2-1 in the second period with a slapshot from the left circle. The Colonials tied the game at 2-2 six minutes into the third period, but they didn't celebrate for long. Moloughney scored a power-play goal midway through the final frame to give her team the 3-2 edge before Lauren Bellefontaine capped the day with a goal of her own. Moloughney (10-18-28) leads Syracuse in both points and goals, and she's two assists behind team leader Lindsay Eastwood.
Moloughney previously earned POTW Feb. 10 after a four-point weekend against RIT. As a team, the Orange have now racked up nine weekly honors. Mae Batherson collected Rookie of the Week honors on Nov. 4, Jan. 13, and Feb. 17. ROTW honors were awarded to Brynn Koocher on Jan. 20. Allison Small earned a Goaltender of the Week nod on Nov. 25, Victoria Klimek earned POTW honors on Nov. 16, and Jessica DiGirolamo was named POTW on Oct. 7.
