
#12 Syracuse Shuts Out Penn on the Road

The 12th-ranked Syracuse field hockey team recorded its second shutout victory of the week, beating Penn 2-0 in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon. Laura Graziosi and Quirine Comans each recorded goals in the win while Brooke Borzymowski earned her third win of the season in goal for the Orange. Syracuse improves to 6-2 overall and returns home for its first home game at J.S. Coyne Stadium since Sept. 4 on Friday, Oct. 1 to host No. 7 North Carolina. Fans can watch live on ACC Network at 4 p.m.Â
After a back-and-forth battle in the first quarter, Syracuse broke through in the second when Pleun Lammers connected with Laura Graziosi in the 22nd minute of play. The Orange held the one goal lead through halftime outshooting their opponents 8-2 including six shots on goal and a 4-0 advantage in penalty corners.Â
Quirine Comans iced the game with her fifth goal of the season to make it 2-0 Syracuse with under 10 minutes to play. Syracuse finished with 12 shots while Penn had six marking the third-straight game Syracuse's defense held their opponent to seven or less shots. Borzymowski recorded one save in the win playing the full 60 minutes for the second-straight shutout.Â
