Syracuse's 1-2 punch of Chrislyn Carr and Christianna Carr have made an impact in the Orange lineup this season, there's no doubt about it. It comes to no surprise that ESPN's Charlie Creme had the duo listed among the top-25 women's basketball transfers of the 2021-22 season earlier this week.Â
Chrislyn Carr, who Creme listed as the No. 12 transfer this season, leads the Orange in scoring (14.6 ppg), three-point field goal percentage (.406), and minutes per game (34.2). Carr came to Syracuse by way of Baylor where she did not play in the spring of 2021 after a mid-year transfer from Texas Tech. Carr recorded four-straight 20-point games during Syracuse's six-game win streak in December and continues to lead the Orange on and off the court as a team captain. Carr was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2019 while playing at Texas Tech and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and First Team All-Academic recognition during her time with the Red Raiders.Â
Christianna Carr, the No. 22 transfer according to Creme, has fit well into Acting Head Coach Vonn Read's offense that favors more three-pointers and playing fast in transition. The Kansas State transfer ranks third on the team in scoring (13.1 ppg), three-point shooting (.392) and adds 5.0 rebounds per game while averaging 28.4 minutes per game in 14 starts. Carr was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection during her three seasons at K-State and scored her 1,000th collegiate point earlier this season against Central Connecticut on December 5.Â
Syracuse is one of two schools with multiple players recognized by Creme as a top-25 transfer. The other is #17 Duke with No. 14 Celeste Taylor and No. 18 Elizabeth Balogun. The Blue Devils come to the Carrier Dome Sunday for an ACC matchup. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on regional sports networks and ACCNX locally in Syracuse.Â
