Over the next few weeks, the incoming 2022 field hockey class will be announced. We continue the series with this week's Welcome Wednesday on Lieke Leeggangers.
Lieke Leeggangers, a Dongen, Netherlands native, will attend Syracuse University and play field hockey for the Orange this fall. Leeggangers, an attacking midfielder has over 12 years of hockey experience under her belt.Â
"Lieke is a very strong attacking midfielder who has a powerful shot on goal," Syracuse Head Coach Ange Bradley said. "She has very good technique and I am excited to welcome Lieke to our Syracuse Field Hockey family."
She attended Biezenkring for prep school until 2016 and will finish high school at Cambreur College this spring.Â
Leeggangers has served as captain of her team, including for HC Tilburg MA1, which plays in the highest national league in the Netherlands. She has trained with the Dutch National U18 team and has won championships in the Subtopklasse and the Topklasse, which is the highest level for U16 players in Netherlands.Â
"From the first conversation I immediately clicked with the coaches and players I spoke to," Leeggangers said. "Also, because the team is ambitious and the school is well-regarded academically."Â
