Welcome Wednesday: Suus Heijnekamp

Over the next few weeks, the incoming 2022 field hockey class will be announced. We continue the series with this week's Welcome Wednesday on Suus Heijnekamp.

Suus Heijnekamp, a native of Oosterhout, Netherlands, will attend Syracuse University and play field hockey for the nationally ranked Orange this fall.
"Suus is a very talented player with good distribution, transition, and technical skill," Syracuse head coach Ange Bradley said. "She is fit and fast and we are very happy she chose Syracuse."
Heijnekamp is an attacking midfielder who plays in the Netherlands' Landelijke Topklasse. Her club team, MHC De Warande MA1 has previously played for HC Tilburg with fellow Syracuse commit Lieke Leeggangers.
She has played for the U14 and U16 teams in the Netherlands and helped her team to a second-place finish in the 'Super B' tournament.
When asked what Syracuse player she admires most, Heijnekamp said "I think it would be CJ [Hoffmann]. She is also from a foreign country, and I saw how important she became to the team."
