The Syracuse cross country teams head to the season opener on Saturday at the Harry Lang Invitational.

Ranking the Orange
The 'Cuse men are ranked No. 21 to start the season in the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, while the women's squad is also receiving votes.
Both teams finished in the top-four of last season's ACC Championships, including a runner-up performance from the men.
2022 Orange Slate
The season gets underway on Saturday for a competitive slate. The Orange will race again next Friday at Penn State, before splitting for a pair of meets on the Weekend of Sept. 23 and 24 – one in Boston and the Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State. The Orange will compete twice on Oct. 14 as well, with some runners at Penn State and others at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The regular season will conclude on Oct. 21 at the John Reif Memorial.
For postseason, the ACC Championships will be on Oct. 28, followed by the NCAA Northeast Regional on Nov. 11 and NCAA Championships on Nov. 19.
Returning Experience
The Syracuse women return six of its seven runners from last season's NCAA Cross Country Championships, including its top-two finishers Savannah Roark and Abigail Spiers.
The men's side lost its top-three finishers from the meet, but return a trio of competitors off the seven-man roster. However, Nathan Henderson and Dominic Hockenbury – who both did not compete at last year's championship but have a wealth of experience – are back into the fold, along with Matthew Scrape, Alex Comerford and Joey Eovaldi.
