
'Cuse Opens Season With Wins

The Syracuse women took the top-seven places and had 10 of the top-11 finishers, while the Orange men finished 1-3 to dominate the season opener at the Harry Lang Invitational.
Sage Brooks was the individual winner for the women, finishing the 4,800-meter course in 16:46.6. Olivia Joly (17:03.4), Emma Eastman (17:20.3), Justus Holden-Betts (17:34.8), Reilly Zink (17:38.0), Shona McCulloch (17:44.3) and Emily Nugent (17:47.0) then crossed the line in succession.
The Orange swept the 15 points on the women's side, defeating Cornell (69), Buffalo (70), Colgate (96) and Binghamton (148) on Saturday morning.
In addition to the top-seven, Sydney Nowicki (17:54.0), Kensey May (18:16.3) and Pipher Reid (18:36.3) finished 8-11. Olivia Shattuck also took 15th for 'Cuse to place 11 in the top-15.
The men also won by a sizable margin. Led by Kevin Robertson in 19:46.4, Sam Lawler (19:54.8) and Nathan Lawler (19:58.4) in a top-three sweep, the men racked up 18 points to defeat second-place Buffalo by 20. Ethan Wechsler (20:20.5) and Kamari Miller (20:34.7) finished in fifth and seventh, respectively to round out the scoring.
'Cuse will race again next weekend in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitaional.
