
Orange Begin Weekend in Boston

The Orange got their weekend started at the first of a pair of meets that 'Cuse split its roster to attend. Today, the team ran at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown and tomorrow, a more veteran laden squad will race at one of the nation's premier regular season meets this season at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Tomorrow's meet features eight of the nation's top-10 teams in the men's race and six of the women's top-10.
Today in Boston, Silas Derfel led the Syracuse men with a 12th-place finish in the men's race this afternoon. He crossed the 8k course in 24:19. Teammate Karl Winter (24:27) was three places behind. Kamari Miller (25:02/35th), Kevin Robertson (25:48/66th) and Matthew Dragon (25:56/75th) rounded out the Orange scoring.
Justus Holden-Betts was the top finisher for 'Cuse in the women's race, crossing the line in 18:06 seconds, which was good for 28th place. Reilly Zink (18:11/32nd), Kensey May (18:20/39th), Shona McCulloch (18:20/40th) and Emily Nugent (18:35/55th) rounded out the Syracuse scoring.
The Orange took sixth as a team on the women's side and the men finished seventh.
A strong roster of SU competitors will take on the Cowboy Jamboree tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m.
