
Orange Post Strong Showings at Cowboy Jamboree

Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree brought a bevy of ranked squads to Stillwater on Saturday, including eight of the nation's top-10 teams in men's cross country and six of the women's top-10 programs.
Both Syracuse squads posted performances to show they're one of the nation's premier programs as well, with the SU women taking sixth and the men placing 8th at the 26-team meet.
The Orange women were led by Savannah Roark, who finished ninth in 20:37.3. Abigail Spiers (21:03.2) took 31st, while Sage Brooks was one spot behind in 21:03.3. Eleanor Lawler (46th) crossed the line in 21:14.5 before Ivy Gonzales concluded the SU scoring in 21:27.5
No. 3 Oklahoma State (70) won the meet, followed by No. 22 Northern Arizona (88), No. 7 BYU (113), No. 3 Colorado (159) and No. 5 Stanford (174). The currently unranked Orange were just four points behind the Cardinal and finished ahead of teams ranked No. 6, No. 9, No. 12, No. 17, No. 20 No. 27 and No. 29 on the day.
The men were led by Paul O'Donnell in 31st (23:56.4), but teammates Assaf Harari (23:57.6) and Nathan Lawler (23:57.8) weren't far off in 34th and 35th. Nathan Henderson finished in 41st (24:02.7) and Noah Carey was the fifth 'Cuse scorer in 24:13.8, which was 62nd overall.
No. 4 BYU was the team champion with 75 points, followed by No. 3 Stanford (101), No. 1 Northern Arizona (110), No. 2 Oklahoma State (118), No. 6 Tulsa (143), No. 9 Wake Forest (177), No. 5 Colorado (183) and then the Orange with 202. Like the women, the No. 20 men out-paced a number of ranked teams, including four ranked ahead of them in the poll, including No. 8, No. 11, No. 15, No. 16, No. 21, No. 23, No. 24, No. 29.
'Cuse returns to action on Oct. 14 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
