The Orange ice hockey team will play at Merrimack College in a weekend series with the first game on Friday September 30th and the second on October 1st.  Both games will be played in North Andover, Mass. at Lawler Rink with faceoff set for 2 p.m. The games will be streamed on ESPN+. This is the first meeting between Syracuse and Merrimack in program history. The Orange opened the 2022-23 season with a 3-0 loss at #6 Colgate. Merrimack beat Stanstead College, 6-2, in an exhibition game last weekend.

'Cuse Leadership
Five leaders will represent the 2022-23 Orange with a letter on their sweater including captain Lauren Bellefontaine and alternate captains Mae Batherson, Tatum White, Rayla Clemons (away games) and Anna Leschyshyn (home games).
- Bellefontaine, who was a 2021-22 alternate captain, earned the 2021-22 CHA Best Defensive Forward award and was a 2021-22 All-CHA Second Team selection. In 2021-22, ranked 12th nationally and set the SU single-season record for faceoff wins.
- Batherson, who has 10 goals and 30 assists in 88 games at Syracuse, played for the 2022 Hockey Canada National Women's Development Team this past summer in a three-game series against the United States.
- White, who Scored a goal in Syracuse's 3-1 exhibition game win at Union, has 21 points in her career, including seven goals and 14 assists, in 48 games.
- Clemons has 15 career points, including six goals and nine assists in 49 games, and ranked fifth nationally in short-handed goals in 2021-22.
- Leschyshyn has recorded 38 career points, including 21 goals and 17 assists, and scored a goal in Syracuse's 3-1 exhibition game win at Union
Connections
Two Orange skaters who have connections with Merrimack players, including Syracuse junior Kambel Beacom Merrimack's Sam Lessick, who boath played for the Cambridge Rivulettes, Orange forward Mik Todd and Merrimack's Alexa Pongo, who played together for the Junior Ice Wolves.

Five Orange played for the first time in their Syracuse careers, including D Maya D'Arcy, F Mik Todd, F Rhéa Hicks, D Charlotte Hallett and F Heidi Knoll.

Notes from the Colgate Game
- Syracuse captain Lauren Bellefontaine won 12 of her 16 faceoffs against the Raiders.
- Graduate student Arielle DeSmet had 32 saves in the goal for the Orange, increasing her career total to 1,456, which ranks fifth on the Syracuse record list.
