
Orange Win Both Individual Races at Penn State

The Orange swept the individual results at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, as Amanda Vestri and Joe Dragon won the women's and men's individual races on Friday morning. Â
Dragon crossed the finish line after 5.2 miles with a time of 25:11.8, earning himself the win. He was followed closely by runner-up Nathan Henderson (25:13.4). Not far behind were JP Trojan (25:26.6/7th) and Noah Beveridge (25:44/17th). Joey Eovaldi (25:51.9) and Brody Smith (25:52.0) crossed the line in 21st and 22nd to complete the scoring. Overall, the men's team placed second with 48 points. No. 26 Michigan (41 pts) narrowly edged 'Cuse, but 'Cuse bested the other ranked team in the event, finishing 19 points ahead of No. 25 Georgetown.
Vestri picked up where she left off from an All-American track season last year, winning the women's 6k race with a time of 20:15.5. The next Orange runners to cross the line were Abigail Spiers and Annie Boos, with times of 21:24.3 and 21:42.8 finishing in 15th and 22nd place. Holly Bent (21:44.3) and Sophia Jacobs-Townsley (22:00.3) rounded out the scoring in 24th and 29th, respectively. The Orange also got strong finishes out of Sydney Nowicki (22:15.9/35th) and Reilly Zink (22:19.1/36th). 'Cuse took fourth place with a total of 91 points. No. 20 Georgetown took the win (48 pts), followed by No. 9 Minnesota (51) and No. 11 Michigan (54).
The Orange's next race will take place on Friday, September 24 at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at 3 p.m.
