The No. 4 Syracuse men's cross country team finished runner-up at the ACC Championships, while the women's team posted a fourth-place finish, which ties for the third-best finish at the conference meet since SU joined the ACC.
The men placed a trio of runners inside the top-10, led by a second-place finish from Paul O'Donnell. He crossed the 8k course in 23:08.2, five seconds behind North Carolina's Parker Wolfe for the individual title. O'Donnell's mark is the best finish by an Orange runner at the ACC Championships since Justyn Knight won the meet in 2017.
Perry Mackinnon (23:15.2) took fifth, while Sam Lawler (23:28.9) placed 10th. Nathan Lawler (23:48.4) was 22nd and Assaf Harari (23:55.7) was 26th to complete the scoring.
O'Donnell, Mackinnon and Sam Lawler will earn All-ACC accolades by virtue of finishing inside the top-21.
Syracuse was the second team to get all-five scorers across the line in the men's race, behind No. 14 Notre Dame. Neither team was able to overcome No. 11 North Carolina's four runners in the top-nine for the team scoring though. The Tar Heels won the title with 49 points, 16 ahead of the Orange. No. 16 Virginia (77), Notre Dame (86) and Florida State (117) were also in contention.
Behind the scorers, Silas Derfel (24:17.6), Ethan Wechsler (24:22.4), Joey Eovaldi (24:27.6) and Matthew Scrape (25:49.0) also posted times for 'Cuse.
The No. 28 women finished two spots better than last year, led by a ninth-place finish from Savannah Roark, as she crossed the line of the 6k course in 20:01.8. NC State's Katelyn Tuohy (19:22.8) took the individual crown and the No. 2 Wolfpack (37 points) won the team title.
Rylie Lusk (20:43.6) was 30th in her first ACC Championships, followed by Sophia Jacobs-Townsley (20:50.8/38th), Madison Neuner (21:01.5/48th) and Emma Eastman (21:11.1/54th) for the Orange scoring. Olivia Joly (21:12.2) and Baneet Bains (21:35.2) also raced for 'Cuse.
Behind the Wolfpack, No. 8 Notre Dame (80) and No. 10 Virginia (82) were ahead of Syracuse's 167 points.
Roark will claim All-ACC honors for the second year in a row following her performance.
Next, 'Cuse will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Nov. 10 in the Bronx.
