Syracuse will open College Hockey America play against Penn State in a weekend series on Saturday, Oct. 28 (1pm) and Sundy Oct. 29 (1 pm) at Tennity Ice Pavilion. The Orange (3-5-1 overall) lead the series against the Nittany Lions, 30-11-8. Sixteen of the games between Syracuse and Penn State (1-6-1) have gone to overtime. Syracuse has a 133-103-31 record in College Hockey America league games since the program started in 2008-09. The win total is second in the league behind Mercyhurst (252 wins), which started CHA play in 2002-03.

What to Know About the Orange:

For the second week in a row Orange defenseman Rachel Teslak is the College Hockey America Defenseman of the Week. The graduate student earned the honor for her performance at #9 Cornell and in a two-game series at Boston University. Teslak scored two goals in Syracuse's 4-4 overtime tie on October 20th. In the three games, she had five shots and one block.
Senior Tatum White tallied a career-high three assists in the first game of the series at Boston University. The three points is also a career-high for White. White also won 22-of-41 faceoffs against the Terriers. She has 513 career faceoff wins, which ranks ninth in Syracuse history.
Defenseman Kailey Langefels scored her first two points in a Syracuse uniform in the series at Boston University. The Minnetonka, Minn. Native had an assist in the first game and scored a goal in the second game. In nine games this season, in addition to the two points, Langefels has 11 shots and 13 blocks. She joined the Orange as a grad transfer after four years at Holy Cross.
Forwards Kate Holmes and Darci Johal lead the Orange points with six each, while defenseman Rachel Teslak and forward Heidi Knoll are the top goal scorers with three each. Holmes and Johal both have a pair of goals and a team-leading four assists. They are tied for eighth in the CHA in points and tied for fourth in assists.
- Holmes has a pair of two-point games, including two assists in Syracuse's 3-2 victory at Post (9/30), and one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win against RPI.
- Johal has scored one goal and tallied one assist twice this season, including in Syracuse's 3-2 win against RPI and a 4-4 OT tie at Boston University.
- Johal is averaging 3.11 shots per game, which ranks 10th in the CHA this season. She fired a season-high seven shots against Merrimack (10/10).
