SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 1 Syracuse women's lacrosse team goes for its fourth top-10 win of the season when it hosts No. 6 Stony Brook on Wednesday, March 22 at 8 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange enter the contest with a 9-0 record, while the Seawolves are 5-1 this season.

Wednesday's game is the fourth straight for the Orange against teams ranked in the top 20. It's also the fourth this season against teams ranked in the top 10.

Syracuse is in a stretch where it will play four games in 11 days. The Orange have eight games on their schedule in March, which is the most for any month of the season.

Delaney Sweitzer is the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the second straight week and third time this season that she has earned the award. Sweitzer is third in the nation in save percentage, fourth in goals-against average (7.59) and fifth in ground balls per game (3.89).
The latest Division I statistics show Syracuse leading the nation in assists per game (9.56) and shooting percentage (.535). The Orange are also second in scoring margin (8.11) and third in points per game (25.89). Overall, Syracuse is in the top 10 in eight categories.

SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES
Stony Brook returned to the win column with a 19-6 victory against Delaware last Saturday. The Seawolves' only loss of the season was a 13-8 setback at Northwestern.

Ellie Masera leads the Stony Brook offense with 28 goals and 33 points. She ranks second in the nation in goals per game (4.67) and third in points per game (5.50). Masera is this week's Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week after recording seven goals in the win against Delaware.

Hailey Duchnowski has started all six games in goal for Stony Brook. She has an 8.71 goals-against average and a .391 save percentage.

Wednesday's game marks the sixth meeting between Syracuse and Stony Brook. The Orange lead the all-time series, 4-1.

The Seawolves visited the JMA Wireless Dome last season. A back-and-forth first half ended with Syracuse leading, 6-5. Stony Brook came back in the third quarter and took a 9-8 lead. Megan Carney halted the Seawolves' scoring run with her third goal of the day to once again even the score. Carney's goal was the first of four straight for the Orange as they entered the fourth quarter with a 12-9 advantage. The Seawolves again fought back with a pair of goals to get within one, but Natalie Smith caused a turnover with 1:04 remaining and Tessa Queri picked up the ground ball as Syracuse ran out the clock for the victory.
