
'Cuse Ice Set to Start 2023-24 Season in September

The Syracuse ice hockey team will drop the puck for the first time in 2023-24 on September 29 at Post in the first of a two-game series. Second-year head coach Britni Smith will guide the Orange through their 34-game schedule that features three of the 11 NCAA Tournament teams from last season, including Clarkson, Colgate and Penn State.
The Orange will open the home portion of the schedule with a series against Merrimack on October 6 and 7 at Tennity Ice Pavilion. After a home-and-home series against RPI and away games at Cornell (Oct. 17) and Boston University (Oct. 20-21), Syracuse will kick off its College Hockey America schedule at home against Penn State (Oct. 28-29. The Orange will then travel to Robert Morris, which is returning to Division I ice hockey after a two-year hiatus, on Nov. 3 and 4. The rest of November includes a home series against Lindenwood (Nov. 17 and 18) and a home-and-home series against Clarkson. The Orange will host the Golden Knights on Nov. 21 and play at Clarkson on Nov. 25.
A three-game slate in December features a home-and-home series against RIT and one home game against Colgate. The Orange will face RIT on Dec. 1 (home) and Dec. 2 (away) and then will host the Raiders to close out the 2023 portion of the schedule on Dec. 5 at Tennity.
Syracuse will kick off the second half of the season at Colgate on Jan. 9 and then play a weekend CHA series at Mercyhurst on Jan. 12 and 13. After mid-week home game against St. Lawrence on Jan. 16, the Orange will play a series at Penn State on Jan. 19 and 20. The first month of 2024 closes with a home series against Robert Morris. In February, Syracuse will play three CHA series, including at Lindenwood (Feb. 2 and 3), a home-and-home series against RIT (Feb. 9 away and Feb. 10 at home), and a home series against Mercyhurst (Feb. 16 and 17).
The CHA Tournament will feature the top four teams with a best-of-three semifinal series scheduled for Feb. 23 to 25 and the CHA championship on March 1 or 2.
