Tervonen is the CHA Rookie of the Week

Forward Nea Tervonen tallied two points and 18 faceoff wins in the series against Robert Morris en route to earning the College Hockey America Rookie of the Week Award for the second time this season. On Friday night in the series opener, Tervonen's third period goal sparked a rally that ultimately forced overtime. On Saturday, she dished out the primary assist on the Orange's opening goal in a 2-1 win over the Colonials.

In Friday's game, Tervonen cut the RMU lead to one, 3-2, with a goal at the 5:28 mark in the third period. Defenseman Alexandria Weiss fed Tervonen at the blue line from the left corner and Tervonen fired a shot into the right corner of the net. In the series finale on Saturday, Tervonen took a pass from Charlotte Hallett and fired a shot that went across the crease to Thompson who one-timed the puck into the back of the net for the power play goal.

In her first season at Syracuse, Tervonen has two goals, two assists, 133 faceoff wins and 23 blocks in 28 games.

The Orange will play at Lindenwood Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 pm and Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2:30 pm at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
